Long‐term incorporation of Selenium and Zinc in microalgae <i>Isochrysis galbana</i> and <i>Nannochloropsis oculata</i> and its effects on rotifer

Rotifers are widely used in hatcheries to feed small-sized aquatic larvae although one of their disadvantages is the lack zinc and selenium 5- 30-fold lower than copepods, respectively. To improve rotifers quality, different concentrations (2, 4, 5 10 mg L−1 each mineral) were added medium microalgae Isochrysis aff. galbana Nannochloropsis oculata for 4 days, then harvested concentrated rotifers. N. accumulated a greater amount Zn Se into cells I. galbana. The cell size algae given 0, 2, minerals did not change both microalgae, but enrichment with decreased sizes paled colour increased division. 2 was best group terms growth (population density, number eggs, egg ratio, Specific rate, maximum doubling time), contained second-highest level (69.26 ± 0.60) (103.5 5.0) content within safe limit. Thus, enriched can be as mineral delivery method cover nutritional requirements marine larvae.
